I have 2 servers on which I am planning to setup SPS 2007. One will be the web server/SPS and the other will be SQL Server 2005. Now both the servers are identical except that one has bigger hard drive space. I want to use server for wherever raw documents are stored.
I read somewhere that documents are actually stored in SQL 2005. Is this true. In that case, I will setup the SQL 2005 on the bigger server. But I had always though that the actual file was stored on the file system and SQL would hold the meta data for the file. So where is the raw data (documents, images, basically all uploads) stored?
Please advice.
Thanks.

Hi,

Yes it is true that SharePoint stores all it's content in the SQL databases. So that is where you should have lots of diskspace. It is not only the metadata it is the actual documents and lists items aswell.

Cheers,
Thomas

Thomas,
Thanks a bunch for the clarification.
One more request. Could you kindly refer me a useful site for SPS 2007 setup, configuration, howtos. I know there are tons of sites out there, but just wanted to the good ones out there in you opinion.
