abstemious, neuroepidermal...

Code:

All the words have all the vowels

Yes, strongm, and what other property do they all have? (abstemious, neuroepidermal...) I should have asked for two.

The physical location of the words in the puzzle in respect to each other is significant (think categories).

Code:

In each pair, the first contains a series of vowels in alphabetical order, while the second contains a series of vowels in reverse alphabetical order (although sometimes also containing extra vowels out of order).

And a star for lbass!

Just yodel if anyone wants hints... :)

How often we overlook the obvious. . .
Code:
[COLOR=white]They all have:
Vowels
Consonants

E2,

You big jerk. I tried yodeling for help and now everyone in my office thinks I'm nutty. Not only that, but I don't see any hints yet!;-)

[purpleface] <---Me yodeling 'till I'm purple in the face

John

Every generalization is false, including this one.

VBAJedi, those were not the two features I was looking for, but I can't deny the truthfulness of your observations. :)

anotherhiggins,

Puzzle 1. There are two words in English which can be attached to each word in the list to form another valid word. What are those two words?

Puzzle 2. Admirably answered in a cooperative effort between strongm and lbass!

Puzzle 3. This puzzle resembles puzzle 2, and isn't anything like puzzle 1 at all. Oh, and it started out as two separate lists (kind of like puzzle 2) but I made it harder by sorting them. You're quite welcome! rofl.

Puzzle #3:
Code:
[COLOR=white]Each word's consonants are either in alphabetical order or reverse alphabetical order.[/color]

VBAjedi [swords]

VBAjedi,

Your answer is 100% correct but it is incomplete as you were overly and unnecessarily specific. Would you care to correct that? :)

Oh, for the love. . .
Code:
[COLOR=white]
Each words consonants are in alphabetical order.
[/color]

VBAjedi [swords]

VBAjedi... its simpler than that, even. Unless I made a mistake!

Code:
[white]The "alphabetical or reverse alphabetical" part was perfect. But why the focus on consonants?[/white]

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary, and those who don't.

Okay... okay... I'll tell you. You can have a star, anyway. :)

Solution to #3:

Code:
[white]All the letters in the words (not just the consonants) are in alphabetical order, either forwards or backwards.[/white]

There's still puzzle #1 to be solved!

-------------------------------------
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary, and those who don't.

#1:
Code:
[white]ship is one of them....not sure about the other[/white]

Only half done, but I don't have time to ponder it any longer right now...

No one has solved #1. The observation that all the words have vowels and consonants was cute, but not the right answer. :)
