We, and several clients, are having an issue with random one-way audio calls since upgrading IP Office to R11. Avaya Support is at the point where they want us to grab wiretraces which we can't do since we are all working remotely due to the pandemic. We upgraded to the latest release of R11 and seem to have this issue in systems with the following configuration: IP-based phones and POTS lines. The odd thing is that the issue also occurs on internal calls as well. The only common hardware are the IP Office 500v2 units and SonicWALL firewalls. Switches are a mix between Cisco and HPE. Providers are all different. Phones are a mix of SIP (J100 series) and H.323 (96x1 series). The issue also seems to occur when using remote SIP softphones (Equinox). Everything was working flawlessly until moving to R11 from either R10 or R9. Any thoughts?

Were you all working from home before this? as that would be another major change on top of the R11.0 upgrade.

Random is also a horrible thing in problem solving. How frequent is it? Does it match events like call hold/unhold or is it something that occurs at the start of some calls.

There have been other people reporting no audio until that hold the call and then unhold. A pain I know but a possible temporary workaround.

Check that non of the switches are applying any ALG or similar transforms to the traffic. Check in SSA that the system isn't reporting any resource problems (lack of VCM channels, run out of RTP port range).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

No, this started happening while we were still in the office. It always randomly happens when placing a call, whether internal or external, the other party will be able to hear the caller, but the caller will not be able to hear the other party. An immediate callback does not have the same issue. I'll double-check our Cisco switch for any modifications being done to VOIP traffic. SSA does not have any resource problems.

is direct media checked, if so you could test with it turned off to see if that makes a difference. This would tell you a little for diagnostics.
