Do you remember other times when 'Random' was a word IN circulation or it is new?

Right now I hear from my daughter's school friends:

To each other:This dude is so random (giggling)
To Me: You are so random (facial expression 'out of your mind')
To each other: It was random...(confused facial expression)

This word has so much to it - sometimes I think they can talk using facial expression and one word 'Randommmmmm'

I am using it now 'WOW! This is random...' (when my Crystal bringing unexpected data). LOL

The Urban Dictionary has some interpretations of that initialism.

Regarding "was/were", that was pretty random of me! [blush]

On adding "bbq", that reminds me of something I do. Anytime I use three or more acronyms in a sentence, I usually append an "EIEIO" for good measure. "To get an IP into DNS ASAP, just FTP the SR to the ITSC EIEIO!"

It just seems to flow.

When I was in the Marine Corps, there were certain titles and names that were abbreviated. Example, Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet would be CINC PAC FLT. It was pronounced "Sink Pack Fleet". Well, when out of ear shot of the butter bars, we would add to the end of it making it ... CINC PAC FLT NIN COM POOP!

Yes, we were easily entertained.

It's nice to see that, for once, I've been ahead of the curve... :)

For years, when people have offered pleasantries such as, "How are things going?", my stock response has been, "Totally random." Depending upon the tone, the listener has had the pleasure, if that be the right word, of trying to figure out what that meant...

Now, kids are ripping me off and trying to steal my thunder... *sigh* I'm going to have a talk with my 6 year old... ;-)

I would much prefer that this use of "random" become part of our language than the use of "bling". I can not express just how much distain I have for the word "bling".

There, I have typed it twice. I must go now and scrub my fingers till they bleed.
