random emails, different subject, no body text

Several times per week I get random emails from people I don't know, each with a different subject and no body text. I have looked up several of the subjects in McAfee and Norton, but never gotten a hit.

I use NAV and frequently update my definitions, but it does not register any finds.

Could these be Viruses?

I got the experience, that Badtrans is sending a lot of blank mails but the virus is attached to a small percentage only.

Perhaps that may be a reason.

If you are running Office 2000 or Office XP the potentially damaging content of a virus is being stripped before you receive it, hence the blank email.
