HI. I HAVE A MERIDIAN OPT 81C. FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS I HAVE ANALOG PHONES THAT THE DIAL TONE COMES AND GOES. YOU CAN DIAL THE EXT AND THE PHONE WILL RING AND CAN BE ANSWERED, HOWEVER AFTER THEY HANG UP AND THEN TRY AND MAKE A CALL THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE A DIAL TONE. IF YOU DIAL THROUGH THE SILENCE, IT WILL EVENTUALLY GO TO RE-ORDER THAT YOU CAN HEAR ON THE HANDSET, WHERE YOU DIDN'T HEAR THE DIAL TONE.

THERE HAVE BEEN NO ERRORS/BUGS POINTING TO A SPECIF PROBLEM. THE FOLLOWING PORTS ARE AFFECTED. SEPARATED BY CABINET, I.E., 20 0; 24 0 AND 20 1 AND 24 0; ETC
FOR THE LAST YEAR WE'VE BEEN WAITING TO REPLACE PBX WITH CISCO, THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN TIL END OF SEPTEMBER. PBX NO LONGER SWITCHES CORE (GRACEFULLY) AT MIDNIGHT ROUTINES. THE FEAR NOW IS THAT IF INI'D OR BROUGHT DOWN, THE PBX MAY NOT COME UP. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THE PROBLEM CAN BE, I FEAR IT IS THE START OF SOMETHING BIG. THE CONTROLLER CARDS (FACEPLATES ARE SHOWING NO ERRORS). ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

You probably have a bad DTR card.
If you trac the phone TN in lD 80 when it goes off-hook you will see the TN for the DTR and hopefully identify the bad card.
Once you do find it you might as well disable the card until you get a replacement.

IN MY CASE A TDS/CONF CARD. WHEN TRACED I GET THE FOLLOWING
ACTIVE TN 004 0 10 06
ORIG 004 0 10 06 MARP 0 35774 500
TERM 008 0 09 00 0 SCR 0 35995 2616
DIAL DN 35995
MAIN PM EDSTD
TALKSLOT ORIG 22 TERM 22
QUEU NONE
CALL ID 0 6770

IS THERE A WAY TO TEST THE TDS/CONF CARDS TO SEE IF THEY ARE GOOD? I AND MY TECH HAVE TRIED THE BELOW
IN LD 34
TDET ENTERED TN 4 0 10 6
GOT TDS310 - TONE DETECTOR PACKAGE RESTRICTED

ALSO ENTERED IN LD 34
TDS - 0 AND SAID OKAY AND TDS - 16 AND SAID OKAY

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK

HI AGAIN, I DON'T HAVE DTR CARDS ON ALL THE SHELVES BUT I DO HAVE THEM (SORRY BRAIN DEAD EARLIER).
IS THERE AN EASY WAY TO TEST EACH DTR CARD? THERE IS PROBABLY 4 IN QUESTION AT THIS POINT.
THANKS AGAIN

DTR CARDS VIA LD 32 ARE IDLE
4 0 15
8 1 15
36 0 15
68 0 15

TDS CARDS VIA LD 34 ARE IDLE
000 016 032 048 064 080
096 112

You need to trac the TN just after you go off-hook. That's when the DTR comes into play. After the dialing ends and a call is established then the DTR is no longer involved.
DTR = DigiTone Receiver. The DTR translates the DTMF tones to signals that the switch understands.

You can do a DTR test in LD 34 but in my opinion it is unreliable for the type of problem you are having.

So do a trac just after the phone goes off-hook. You should see only one phone TN and the DTR TN. If you get dialtone then that DTR TN is good. If you don't get dialtone then that DTR is bad.

OK I GET IT NOW,JUST TRACED AN ANALOG EXT IN THE SWRM, I SEE THE TTR, I WILL TRY IT TOMORROW ON SOME OF THE PROBLEM EXT.
MOST EVEYONE HAS GONE FOR THE DAY. HOPE ALL I HAVE TO DO IS REPLACE A CARD
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME. HAVE A GOOD EVENING

THANKS AGAIN, I HAD NEVER TRIED TRACING LIKE THAT BEFORE, NOR HAD MY TECH, WORKED GREAT.
WENT TO A PHONE THIS MORNING, NDT TRACED ON 4 0 15 3, NEXT TIME DT TRACED AND ON 68 0 15 2,
NEXT TIME NDT TRACED AND ON 4 0 15 9. DISABLED 4 0 15 AND NO MORE ISSUES.

I HAVE ONE OTHER ODD THING AND MAYBE IT IS ASSOCATED TO THE BAD DTR CARD.
OCCASSIONALLY, CALLERS WILL HEAR TONES AS IF HITTING THE BUTTONS ON THEIR PHONE, BUT
THEY AND THE OTHER END HAVE NOT. COULD THIS HAVE BEEN THE SAME CARD CREATING THE
PROBLEM? NOW JUST NEED TO REPLACE THE CARD.

AGAIN, REALLY APPRECIATED YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND TIME!!!
