I'm running 2 Dell Poweredge 2650 Servers (2 x Xeon, 2Gb RAM ,updated BIOS & drivers) Win2K Server SP3 with Metaframe XP FR2 installed.

Both the servers have several applications installed including Office 97, Publisher, Access 2000 etc.

Both of these servers works fine for 2-3 days & than get freeze / hangs; i can see only blank screen on console - no blue screen or any other mssage; No obvious error messages etc. sometimes, by removing the network cable and replacing it, there is some life, but generally nothing.

I have heard that there may be a hotfix about, but have yet to discover it. I cannot see it on Citrix.com.

Will appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks....

Have you tried to disable the XEON hyperthreading in the BIOS? I'd start there...

Had this problem a while ago, same servers, seemed to happen when the netlogo service stopped, which I tracked down to having auto-reconnect set on our wyse terminals, hope this helps

Have you monitored your memory usage? Perhaps you have an application that is not releasing memory. Access is notorious for this.

There are several known issues right now with the 2650 machines and BIOS updates for the ESM. You should contact Dell immediately with your service tag numbers and make sure that you have the latest patches. Apparently without the patches the machines are prone to sporadic blue screens and not POSTing or starting Win2K.

To date, we have applied all the relevant patches that are available from Dell, but I shall contact Dell directly with service tag details. At present, the servers have been a little more stable, and we have now removed the network load balancing, and following the reboot, things have been a little better.

On the memoru useage front, we have noticed a couple of apps that have been a little over enthusiastic on the memory front and these have been removed. Other than that memory has been fine. I will monitor and then let you know the outcome. Thanks all for the help and suggestions so far!
