i have an asus 1.5 p4 motherboard. im not very computer literate so i cant tell u much more than that. i just need to know what to look for when trying to upgrade ram. not sure about ecc/non ecc and spped rating. currently i have 2 samsubg 64mb rambus sticks.
on the sticks it says MR16R0824BN1-CK8IN 64mb/4 800-45

i was gonna buy more sticks on ebay but am not sure which to buy and dont want to make a mistake. i heard u buy rambus in pairs so im thinking of picking up either 2 128mb or 2 256mb sticks. plz tell me wat to look for and what specifics on speed and everything else i need to know b4 spending so much money on expensive ram.

I would go with two 128MB PC-800 RDRAM sticks. You may or may not be able to use 256MB sticks. It depends on the motherboard specs. Go with NON-ECC. ECC memory is not really meant for workstations or home users.

A couple good places to look:
(a comparison of prices among various online dealers)
(they have a memory configurator to help you select)

thanks alot. im not really worried about getting more than 256mb memory total anyways. i plan on bidding on ebay also, hopefully i dont get ripped with some broken sticks/
