Got the box delivered, 4 hotswap drives, OS installed on hdisk0.

How would I go about configuring it for RAID5? Any pointers to a relevant web page will help me tremendously. My exposure to RAID solutions is pretty much limited, but I do have some mirroring and striping experience if thsi is what is required.

You need to apply ML_06 or higher and update scsi raid firmware,
but first try smitty/devices/Disk Array according to install guide

Thanks for that gheist, only problem is that I didn't receive any install guide worth mentioning, so I am winging it here by touch. I must say, the Warranty Guide of over 100 pages is quite impressive....

To add to my problems I cannot log in to the system either, I select the console on the terminal, it starts the subsystems and goes straight to a "console login:" prompt, it skips the Installation Assistant bit. I cannot log in, it doesn't even prompt for a password.

Booted into maintenance mode and ran install_assist to configure everything, rebooted, back to the same problem.

Next I tried re-installing from CD, same as above, it skips the Installation Assistant bit and goes straight to a console login prompt.

Any ideas? IBM Certified Specialist - MQSeries
