I have a W2K Server with a 3 disk (36mg ea) raid5 configuration. 1 disk failed the other day but I managed to fianlly make it through a re-build and bring it back online. The new disk has arrived (warranty) and I want to swap out with the bad one. What steps do I need to go through to swap out the bad drive ?
Thanks in advance.

Well... just off the top of my head... Your array should hav been safe and remain online if you had a RAID5 set. Normally, I would have pulled the bad drive, powered down the server, replace the drive and after the server POST, it should recognize the new drive during startup and prompt you to confirm you want to rebuild your volume/array... I've done it a few times... but not that much. Hope this helps.

Also depends on the server. Some servers will allow you to hot swap the drive out, so its just a matter pulling out the old one and putting in the new one. Then using the servers array software rebuilding it.

Took the safe route - took the drive off-line, replaced with the new one, formatted the new drive, then did a rebuild. Everything looks/works fine.
