I have windows 2000 server. What is better to use: hardware raid or the RAID in windows 2k server? I am mirroring two 20gb hard drives.

Hardware RAID is almost always preferrable to software RAID. If it's in the budget, do hardware.

If you run software RAID you've got server processor overhead keeping the drives mirrored, whereas a hardware solution takes that load over. Marc Creviere

Hi,

I just installed a hardward raid card ande it works like a dream.

It was also very simple to install.

I would recommend hardware raid for the reason above and also for the simplicity of installation.

Hi
Word of caution if I may...

Make a back-up of your hardware RAID config.

If you loose your RAID controller then you can get everything back up when you replace your RAID controller with the same one.
Also make sure that the config is written to your HD's

Lets say it is plan C if A & B fails.

Hope this Helps
