Hi all
Is Win2000 shows what raid level on a Win2000 server ?

Thanks

Win2k server supports RAID 0,1 and 5 under software and any hardware.

Thanks for reply
I think couldn't explain exactly what my question is.I am currently using win2k but i need to know what level of raid it has .Is there a way to look to know what raid level by asking to win2k.?

First of all you need to know the system your are dealing with - if it doesn't have two or more physical hard drives, RAID of any flavour is not an option. A minimum of three hard drives is required for RAID 5 (parity with striping).

Win2k server supports both hardware and software RAID configs (as stated by Zelandakh above), and while it offers native RAID capabiltes, 3rd party solutions could also be used.

If the Win2k RAID is being used you can access the Disk Manager via Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management. The top right-side pane will list the current system drives, and if you scroll over you will see a category for Fault Tolerance - with a yes or no indicator as to the status.

If a 3rd party solution is in use you will need to review the Programs list and Control Panel for any programs/applets that would indicate the additional service.

Hope that helps, Chad Stiller, MCSE
