Hi,

We would like to replace a disk in a RAID 5 configuration with a disk of which we don not know if it is partitioned to be smaller than the drives in the existing RAID 5 configuration. We are working with a Compaq 3000 system.

Does anybody know if it could cause a problem if we put in a disk which may be partitioned opposed to a unpartitioned disk?

Provided the Disk has the same physical properties you have no problem. The disk can be bigger but CANNOT be smaller than the smallest physical disk in the Array.
It does not matter what partitions are on the new disk.
Cheers
