RAID 5 and SSA disks in 4 x IBM SSA 160 SerialRAID Adapter loop

yes, you can, but at least 3 SSA disks

For RAID 1 and RAID 5 max adapter per loop can be only 2
i.e only two initiators. I have faced similar kind of
problem while created RAID 1 and RIAD 5 with 4X SSA
adapters.
This is clearly written in install guide of SerialRAID
adapter.
