RAID 5 AIX F80-7025

Hi,

i have this configuration:
2 chanels:
on the first one, 3 disks with ID: 18,19,1A
on the second one 4 disks: 28,29,2A,2B
I built the raid 5 with 6 disks and i take the 18 as hot spare.
Does the hot spare is available only for the chanel 1 or for the entire RAID.

it is a scsi raid.

bro, if you declare the the hotspare inside the raid, it would cater for the whole raid 5 you declared. Its transparent to the bus you are referring to. So, in any point in time one of your 6 disk failed, the hotspare will take over immediately, hope this onw will one..
