1SCSI controler .
2 H.D 36 G.B 10000 RPM .
the c: is on the 1'st H.D: 2 G.B. partition\NTFS for the BOOT partition .
All the rest is unpartiotioned.
I want to mirror the two of them ,and place the page file for the best performence on each of the H.D .
-Someone can give me step by step help in a"how to" style?
...or alink that describes this point ?
MS site is like to try find bin-laden in heaven...

Go to your disk administrator
Upgrade all disks to dyn. disks
Create a partition of the same size on the second deselect the first partition
click CTRL to select the newly created partition with it
then on the action menu (I think) there is an option create mirror or something...

For the page file: Just create 1 partition on each disk and don't mirror them. Set the pagefilesettings so the page file is on both disks, this gives the best performance, Win2000 automatically 'load balances' between them.

PS: If your budget allows it use hardware RAID instead of software RAID. If you are using software RAID make sure you know how to recover it (if your pri partition fails it is not just a matter of rebooting)

thanks
I have a software RAID .
if the first disk is "gone" ...all i have to do is to replace the BOOT.INI or to edit it ,-to point to the seconed drive and thats all ,- or am i wrong ?

In order to boot to the other partition you'll need a disaster recovery boot floopy with an edited boot.ini pointing to the other hard drive. Once you are running you can reset the active partition, modify boot.ini on the HDD, etc.

Do you know how to create the bootdisk? If you want more info post a reply

David

i can use makeboot dir in the w2k cd -right ?
-what i've didnt understand is how one can edit the boot.ini file from the REPAIR OPTION - there is no util there that one can edit with a text files, :eek:nly to read trough TYPE .
this is bizzar stuff in my opinione.
is there something else for me to know ?

thank you david
-english is'nt native for me =sorry.
