Thanks a lot guys n girls

What are your formulas and graphic indicators set at?

It's tough to give you one answer as each definition of Red, Amber, Green varies.

Let us know what you have so far -- and we'll help tweek.

Hi thanks .
in the opening field i have entered number and the value is variance status in the number 1 position from the drop down formula .
Graphical indicators are as below
red= is greater than
amber - equals
green = is less than .
all i am after is showing if a line item is going out of time line as either r a g , and leave the completed items as a blue or other colour .

I'm sorry -- I still don't understand.

You've entered a number field, yes? And how did you set the field value to "variance status." There is no field for "variance status". What formula are you using to calculate Variance status? Copy the formula in to your post.

You also have to set specific values for the "greater than" - greater than what? 5 days?

Most frequently RAG are calculated on Finish Variance -- is this what you are trying to use?

Julie

Hi the formula was schedule variance arrow right calf 1.0.
The indicators are set as below
Red plus 1.0
Amber equal 1.0
Green less than 1.0 .
Any help formula wise would help greatly

Again, there is no field in Microsoft Project named "Schedule Variance". Are you sure you are telling me the formula in Project -- not Primavera?

Try this:
Add the Duration1 field to the view.
Customize the field with a formula [Finish Variance]
Finish Variance is the difference between baseline finish and current finish -- so you need to have a baseline saved.
Then, add your test in the graphic indicators display.

Julie

My apologies. I wasn't thinking earned value -- you are correct - there is an Earned Value field named Schedule Variance or SV. I apologize for any confusion.

Hi Julie and Victor , i have done some digging and it appears the sv setting was one that was used in a template created by an other , so do not know what the formula entered was , the lights still do not work though .
i am just after simple rag and complete status , i.e. as below
red - behind schedule critical
amber - behind schedule non critical
green -on schedule
black -completed
amber -
thanks for your kind help and comments .

The SV is only calculated if you have resources with standard rates assigned to tasks and a baseline saved. So, starting back at the beginning - do you have those two? If not, you will have no values for SV.

Tell us about your project set up and we'll try to be more help.
