Ok here is the problem at this time we have a Partner System and we have a radio patch plugged into it to we can call over the radio channel from one of our phones.I am getting ready to install the Merlin Legend System on Sat. and i have tested everything else and this is the only thing that does not work. When i plug it into one of the extensions on the 012 Module and i call it i can break into like i should be able to but i have no voice.I don't know if anyone here has encountered this problem or may or may not be able to help me but if you can please leave a reply.

I wound't mind having a red Partner 18D. I would think of it as a modern day Batphone! [smile]

im sorry for a late posting but i am kinda new to the phone world what was the bell system? and why did it break up?

Prior to 1984, AT&T (A publicy held company) owned 22 Telephone companies, Western Electric Company (the manufacturer of most phone equipment in the USA) and the Long Distance Service.

This "Monopolistic" Giant was known as THE BELL SYSTEM.

In fact, until the late 60's, the only way you could get a phone was to lease it and the service from the Phone Company.

Long story short, a lawsuit ensued which found that the BELL SYSTEM was now an illegal monopoly, and must be "broken up".

Prior to the lawsuit, the monopoly was seen as a necessary evil to insure "universal service".

That's a real "nutshell & Reader's Digest" version.

And to think, with all the mergers, Ma Bell is being pieced back together.

However, it will not be the MONOPOLY it was.

That genie is now out of the lamp.

When you think of all the changes, it just boggles the mind.

i.e.; - Long Distance pricing is virtually a NON ISSUE now.

That's true; the monopoly is not there.

Telephone service pricing today is opposite the way it was pre-divestiture. Used to be local service was cheap and long distance was expensive. Now local service is expensive and long distance is cheap.

Go figure [ponder]
