When I print a webpage that has radio buttons, they do not print. They are displayed when I print preview but not on the print. Everything else on the page prints fine.

I am using Internet Explorer Version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp1.020828-1920 on Windows XP Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp1.020828-1920:Service Pack 1) with all the current updates installed. I am printing on an hp psc 2110 all-in-one. I am using the driver that came on the installation CD-ROM. I have checked the hp website and they don't have a newer driver.

I saw one issue in the Microsoft Knowledge Base that was similar but was for IE4 and did not help.

If you have any ideas or have seen this before, please help.

Thanks,
texastc

I didn't mention but other buttons, such as "submit", etc. also do not print.

I think this should be an easy problem to correct but I just can't seem to stumble on to the solution.

Any insight you can give will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Go to Tools, Internet Options, General Tab, Settings, View Objects. What's the status of your Java? If anything other than "Installed," go get a new/good copy:

Thanks for your reply carrr,

I looked and didn't have Java, now I do. Java Runtime Environment 1.4.1_02 is Installed. That didn't do it. The problem still exists.

Let me use this page as an example: At the top the radio buttons for "Find A Forum", "Find An Expert", and "Keyword Search" DO NOT print. They show on print preview.

Under "Your Reply" (Step 2) the Checkboxes for "E-Mail Notification", "Emoticons/Smileys", and "Process TGML" DO print.

Under "Your Reply" (Step 3) the words "Preview Post" and "Submit Post" DO print but not the outline and color around them. Again, they do show correctly on the print preview.

Also, I tried checking Internet Options/Advanced/Printing/print background color and images. That is not the fix for this problem.

I appreciate your earlier suggestion and hope that you can think of something else that could cause this problem ...

Sincerely,
texastc

More information.

This problem only manifests when printing from IE6 to the hp psc 2110. I printed on an Epson AP3250 esc/p2 and the buttons printed fine.

Also, I contacted hp support. Their only suggestion was to try another browser. I downloaded and installed Opera. The buttons do print in Opera on the hp psc 2110. The only problem is the headers and footers do not print correctly. So that is not a good work-around.

I want to keep IE6 as my main browser anyway.

At first I thought this was an IE problem, then I thought it was a printer problem. Now I see that it is both.

I appreciate any help you can give me on this.

I'd download a fresh install or, if you've got your disk, try a reinstall of the drivers for your HP 2110.

Also, it's worth running a repair on yout IE. You can get there by using Add/Remove Programs, selecting IE, proceeding as you'd be removing it, and you'll get to an option to "Repair."
You can get there manually by going to Start, Run, typing in "rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance" .... (ignore the quotes, this is case sensitive, copy it exactly...)
