Has anyone been able to integrate the Radiant POS system with a DVR system? Is there special programing that needs to be done for the Radiant termainal to send the text code to a perticular RJ12 port?
The terminal has 6 RJ12 connectors and used pinouts 3456 RGYB. Any import from anyone would be very appreciated

Our client had an experienced camera company come in and install a third party DVR system and had a hell of a time with it.

I'm not saying this to scare you, and they did get it work eventually. They ended up installing capture boxes at each location, and had to have us come out to upgrade on a few occassions to help them with it (they didn't have much knowledge about Aloha).

I do know that they ended up losing there butts on the deal when all was said and done, but they are a bigger company, and stuck with it until they got it work.

If you need any specific information, I can see what I can do. Let me know.

Thank you alohaakamai3

If you could find out what they did, I would be extremely grateful. If they added boxes, which boxes did they use, and how were they configured?

I am looking forward to your reply.

i have radiant 1550's that I'm trying to piggy back the camera system of of the COM6 pole display output using the VSI-Pro POS box all i need is the pin out for the RJ-12 and no one at radiant will release that info.

You are going at it the wrong way. Aloha has free software available for intefacing the terminals and DVR through the Aloha Server.

need more info. like just add to the server and connect to? the other problem is the customer is demanding a Journal receipt not a finalized receipt.

maybe i should clarify. i am the contracted surveillance company that is attepmting to do this. i do not want to hire a sub on this job as it is i have already lost my shorts on the deal

StingPOSguy, have you contacted AWE tech support to see how the VSI-Pro connects to the radiant? If they have it in the list then they should have the step by step.

alohaakamai3,

have you found the specific information that you were looking for on this subject?

i got it to work db-9 to db-9 and configure the manager software. now the cameras work.

useful? it shows a jounal style receipt. as in every button pressed shows up step by step not like an end of transaction receipt.

Alohaspy needs additional software on the DVR end to get anything intelligible. The touch-by-touch messages need to be filtered, compiled by terminal and by check no. and displayed in a more logical order.

Everybody that connects to Alohaspy discovers this and realizes they need the software like that provided in the links above.

Your customer might want to think about stepping up because the detail from Alohaspy can be quite useful.

How did you get it to work? On the terminals there are RJ12 ports. What did you use as the pin outs?

it took awhile but here is how i did it. i had the radiant retailer move his printers off of the 2- db-9 ports that are next to the RJ-12 ports. i believe if i remember correctly that the db-9 ports are com 2 and 3. the rj-12 ports are com 6 - 12. i used db-9 to rj-45 adapters all you need are 3 pins in the adapter 2,3, and 5. reverse 2 and 3 on thee adapters. as in 2 goes to 3, and 3 goes to 2. 5 is the ground and remains unchanged. now in the aloha manager go to device configure. in one of the tabs it says "customer display" click enable, point the software to the com you are plugged into. then set the display type to the "pxl200" or something like that. you will also need an AVE VSI Pro to make this work to be able to filter out the time etc. it took me 2 hours to prgram 138 exceptions so only the items scanned showed up

Wow. Does the customer love it?

You know, Aloha has free software called Alohaspy that sends all transactions from the workstations to the server, then out one serial port. No cabling, no AVE boxes. Unfortunately, it was written a few years ago and it is unsupported and poorly documented. A few people have figured it out, mostly on their own.

The Radiant terminals that are in use do not have any db9 ports. There are 8 RJ12's.

Would you know which pins to use on a RJ12?

Do you know where I could get a copy of the Alohaspy?
