I have a Radiant 1520 that I need to repair the registry on. I cannot log into it because it is looking for a domain. I cannot get it to recognize a local account. I think this is because I made a mistake in Domain and Altdomain names in the registry.

I tried to boot from a CD using and XP disk and was going to run a repair on the OS.

I get the system to go all the way to starting windows and then I get the blue screen and the windows error 0X0000007B which usually means the system is having an issue with the boot drive. I have tried two different CDs one with USB 1.0 and one with USB 2.0

If I can get the machine to boot, I can fix the issue. Also, if I could get into the machine remotely via the command line, I could probably repair it that way.

Suggestions?

Thanks

You may need to format the UDOC drive first before installing the operating system.

Thanks, I was hoping to get away without having to do a complete install/reimage. The embedded OS seems to be fine - it is just the registry seting I messed up. I was hoping I could boot of the external CD ROM with a Win XP disk make the correction to the registry and then just reboot normally.

you could try booting up with a hirens disk or a boot repair disk.

Not for the faint of heart but bart pe had somthing called regedit pe. You can attach your problem drive to another windows xp computer (xp is all i have used it with) run regedit pe and point to the windows folder on the problem drive/install it imports HKLM into your working registry in a hive that has remote\ in its name. You can edit that branch of the registry and when you close regedit pe it exports your changes back to that other drive allowing you to correct goofs you have made that are fixable by a registry edit. You can do this from a pe environment too but I like to get it on a full machine and in the time it took to hook up the drive and boot i might still be waiting on barts to startup. I think it works on the hiren mini windows XP too but I believe you had to add some extra windows files for it to use so you would want to be booting from a usb harddrive hiren or usb key hiren you could add them too

Google it and reply if you want it and can't find it. I will try to find my copy (it is on all older compiles of barts pe. I haven't used barts in a while because the 3 year old versions of hirens usually allowed me to do whatever i needed so i can't tell you much about current barts

look here. If/when I find it I will put it there probably be late tomorrow
