Hi everyone!
I hope u guys can help me with some problems with my new radeon video card!

When i play CounterStrike i like to have 100fps, that i had with my old card (gforce2gts/pro)
Now with "one of the better" graphiccards i have 100fps (framespersecond) but when i get in to a fight it drops to like under 40fps.

This is for me very irratating issue.

I have the newest drivers from ATI, ihave win2k, i have Athlon 1333mzh, 512DDR, DirectX 9,

If anyone have any thought about what it can be, please help me then!

(excuse me for my (sometime) bad english, swedish)

Blizzzz; about all I can tell you about ATI is sometimes the drivers just do not work. I even read somewhere that ATI does not reccomend downloading drivers unless they are for a fix. Search their driver archives for win2000, try a different one. GOOD LUCK.LOL PEARL

Try running a windows update. ATI released a driver there that is not on ATI's site that fixed a directx8.1 issue I was having w/ my radeon.
Of course .... it took them a few months to do this cause it looked like they were too busy renewing their "commitment to develop better customer support" campaign.
Part of my switch to the GEforce cards was the slower GEforce cards would play games better than the faster ATI cards I have at my disposal.
I also wish you luck, it may take a while for ATI to fix any issues with their drivers.

It would also be advantagous to un-limit the FPS on Counterstrike. It's been a year since I played it, but there is a command you can enter in your script which will stop the FPS being tied into your connection speed.

I had the same problem with my radeon 9500 pro.. I was just about ready to call it quits when i couldnt get my fps at a solid 100.. First couple things I tried was change ati_subdiv and ati_subnotch both to 0 in the HL console.. this seemed to help.. but I would still stutter and this was pretty annoying. Then i read this post:

What I did in the list that post gives you, was turn hardware accel down a notch, and close some programs that I had running in the backround. I hope this helps most of you people with the same problem

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last link isnt working, pls give me the right one

Don't hear anyone asking about the platform Blizzzz is using, It maybe that your motherboard Chipset is bottle necking the faster card making it appear no faster than your old one, To get the most from the new Radeon 9500 card you need Via's KT333 or newer or Nvidia's Nforce2 chipset equipt motherboard. BTW the GF2 GTS/Pro is a cracking card.
I also know some games don't like DirectX 9.

Hello

I have a Soltek FRV75 (i dont realy remember the whole)
Features:
ATA 133
400 memory bus
AGP 8x
via chipset

Radeon 9500pro
directx 9
512 DDR 333mzh
XP2200+ througbred

Blizzzz: Sorry about that. It worked before, now it doesn't work for me either! Go to the first link I posted in the above response and scroll down 8 posters to xm0de and read his post, then follow the link there. As far as your platform, it looks like your system is fine for the 9500Pro(it's being run on alot of less powerful systems than yours and working fine). The only question pertaining to that area is: what size/kind/etc. power supply are you using( maybe voltage to the card?). You can probably find the solution to your problem by posting on the Rage3d forum under PC Gaming or the Radeon 9500 heading. Rage3d usually is the TOP forum board when it comes to ATI videocards.

Counter-Strike in itself has an internal limiter to that has the max set at 100. The variables are defaulted to 72 but if you are getting 100 already then you found those. I have witnessed others exceeding the limit mark but they lacked to explain how they did it.

Well all I did was change FPS_Max from 72.0 to 100.00 in the cfg file. I now get the 100 FPS in CS that I should with my system
