I used to use a sis 530 mobo , it sucked, so I recently got an asus p5a mobo and radeon 7500 video card(agp). For some reason the card wont work, if I plug the monitor into it , I get a blank screen, I got an old 2 mb cirrius video card(pci)and it works fine.I have tried updating mobo agp drivers and I've checked the cmos setup, nothing looks out of place. I am running windows 98 with AMD k62 500. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have the BIOS set to primary display AGP?
Does the monitor/card work in the POST screens with the previous settings enabled?
IF SO, it has to be a driver issue of some kind...
Boot to safe mode and look for duplicates...if there are either remove all but one or all of them and let the P&P find and reinstall the card.
Have you done a google search on the combo of mobo and video card...some combinations are known not to work.

I did some search on your mobo and its an old mobo.
There is a huge change that you have a AGP 1.0 slot.
The new video cards require a AGP 2.0 slot because it delivers a higher voltage. Keep this in mind because if you do insert a card that requires a AGP 2.0 slot into a AGP 1.0 slot it will be very unstable and your system will crash, a lot.

Thanks for your help, I finally gave up and took it to a repair shop, but they couldn't do anything with it either. I was wondering about the agp slot version , I wasn't sure what it was and had actually thought if that could be the problem. Could anyone recomend a good mobo with an agp 2.0 slot or better that supports pc100 sdram memory?

LOL sorry , and also compatible with AMD K6/2 500 mhz CPU.

I just did a major upgrade but my old system was very similar to yours. I was running a Radeon 7500, AMD K6/2 500mhz and 512mb of pc100 memory. The motherboard I was running it all on did very well. It was a Soyo 5EMA+. The only thing is to make sure you have the latest bios for it. You'll also have to go to Soyo's web site for the voltage jumper settings. You can still find it for sale on some online sites. They only say it supports a 400mhz chip, however I did run that config for about 6 months. It was very stable. The 5EMA+ can actually handle 3 DIMMs of 256K. It also includes 2 usb ports which is kind of rare for an older board like that. Good luck!!
