I am finding that in the latter releases (R7-R9) that Manager is dog slow when opening a config. Recently install Admin suite on dedicated remote access PC (Win7Pro, Duo core 2.6Ghz, 3G ram), no other apps running, no firewall, no virus protection, no VMPRO.

More perplexing that my old laptop (XP Pro, P4 3.2Ghz, R9 Manager) opens the config faster than the duo-core 2.6 w/ win7 pro.

Is there any tuning that can be done in Manager to speed up opening the config file? I lyed around with discovery settings and added the local Ip address range to speed up discovery but config still opens up slow (about 60s)....this is very frustrating........cg22.

Great info...just installed 9.0.3 and tried to open a config. I could have taken a quick power nap while waiting![thanks2]

I have all the validation and secure garbage turned off on mine, and it takes forever to load a config, unless you are right next to the system. Trying to load one across the network gives me odd flinches.

Holdmusic, I turned off validation as you suggested and it takes about 45s to open the config file. I then turned on validation and it still takes about 45s to open the config file (no change). I went a step further and ran windows 7 task manager and monitored resources (network, memory, cpu) and all were minimal while opening the config file. It is very annoying to have to wait soooo long when making changes.

I have another customer who has a similar pc (duo-core 2.8, vmpro) that's running R8 Manager and R5.0.26 on the IPO (406v2). The config file opened in 12s. I then took this config file (R5.0.26) and copied it to the Manager R9 PC and it opened the config in 5s. This tells me that the PCs are not the issue. The issue is definately with R9 configs. I realize that Avaya has added lots of new stuff to the IPO from R5 to R9 but 45s is just unacceptable when building out configs, doing cutovers, etc. I know our customers are going to complain about this.

Another test: Went to my old laptop (P4, XPPro, R9 Manager) opened same config file R9 config in 7s.

I just did another test with a more powerful PC (I5 CPU, 4Gram, win7pro 64-bit, R9.0.3.941 Manager) and the config file (R9) opened in about 7s. I am now confused and concerned that maybe the older duo-core PCs (XPpro or Win7Pro) have issues with running/opening R9 configs. Or maybe there are bugs in R9 Manager that cause it to hang for 40+s.....will do more tests when I get time......any thoughts?

It is for sure a setting in manager.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

okay....the slowness appears to be discovery related...I will play around with the Discovery settings to figure out which setting is causing it and will post.

Got it.....slowness is with Security settings. During new IPO setup installation, I unchecked the "Secure Communications" under security (I was tired of the annoying security prompt box that pops up every time you open a the config on the IP500v2). Manager appears to do a certificate validation. I think there may be a bug in R9 Manager security settings or the way it validates/exchanges the cert.

I ended up selecting the "Secure Communications" - low setting and now the config file opens up in about 7s.

Tlpeter, you got it....it was in the Manager settings......cheers.

The server edition uses this secure stuff.
So when you login to a SE then you need to turn it off again for an IP500.

When "Secure Communications" is turned off is when the config file takes 45s to load (when opening an IP500v2 config file).

Change the scurity settings > Interfaces > Configuration from "Secure,Medium" to "Secure and unsecure".
Beware! If your IP Office is reachable from the Internet then leave it as it is!

I've seen this as well. Config opens up quickly on a crappy old XP workstation and takes forever on a windows server 2012 VM with 8 cpu cores and 32 GB of ram. Never worried much about it but has anyone tried different windows compatibility mode settings? Just a thought.
