Today, after working just fine, I tried to do a test restore and AS asked for sequence #2. There is no sequence #2 (or seq 2) in any of the logs (activity, job log or job detail). I am not spanning, and the device (Iomega autorev w/ 35gb capacity) should not be full and there's nothing to indicate that it is full (backup +/- 27gb). I can restore some files from all sessions, but not everything. Any ideas? Again this is a new problem, just started today.

Try this

Here is the registry setting to disable the catalog merge. This sometimes works better. The path to Base\Task has changed but is easy enough to find.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine
Open it to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\ARCserveIT\Base\Task
Highlight Task and select Edit Add Key from the menue bar.
Key Name: Merge
Class: <leave blank>
Hightlight Merge and select Edit Add Value
Value Name: DonotUseCatalogMerge
Data Type: REG_DWORD
click OK
Data: 1 *// 1 = Enabled, 0 = Disabled

Using Build 3105. but again everything was working just find until this Wednesday.

So far all. I can restore from the disks, but not a small portion of one of the sessions on the disks. It's almost as if the disk is full, but there's nothing in the logs to suggest that that actually is happening.

I'm not sure I understand.

Is the problem restricted to a specific part of a specific session?

If so it might be data related.

Have the next backup do a Verify Compare Tape To Disk.
Run a system check and defrag on the volume in question (at the data source on disk).
