Using r11.1. Trying to make duplicate copies of existing AIT-5 tapes because of a tape recall. I only have one drive. Can I use tapecopy to copy an existing tape to hard drive and then copy from hard drive back to a new tape?

I'm looking at the tapecopy command but don't understand how to make copies to and from hard drive. Also, can one copy system state backups to the hard drive? As long as I don't put original location I'm assuming it won't replace current system state?

oh 11.1 so old, don't remember
ck to see if it supports FSD File System Device
this is a directory on the hard drive configured in ARCserve to be used as a FSD. 1 FSD = 1 tape.

run the Device Configuration utility, if supported FSD config will be there.

If it does then setup your FSD and use tapecopy.exe to copy from tape to FSD and then back to new tape. run tapecopy from a command box with no parameters for internal help file.

Thanks davidmichel. I was able to make this work as you suggested by creating a FSD and then using tapecopy.

Cheers!

and thank you for the star :)

tapecopy and FSD have been two very valuable additions to ARCserve
