Hey Guys,

I have an odd situation here. We have a server cluster running VMware and includes 2 very beefy servers. There is quite literally nothing else running on this cluster. We have a brand new R11.0.2 server edition that takes 20-30 minutes to boot up.

I have the same exact version running in our environment that boots in under 5 minutes. The only difference between the two is that the new server with the long boot time is a fresh server, loaded straight from the 11.0.2 OVA. The other server was a previous R10.1 that was upgraded to R11. We have compared the two machines and they are built in the same manner however the longer boot time does have more resources allocated.

Has anyone had any similar issues here?

What are your typical boot times?

Thanks!

I have the same issue. It was taking so long to boot, I thought it was completed hosed up.
I left it alone, to grab something to eat, thinking I would need to rebuild after lunch... but when I came down check on it, it had finally booted up.

Strange thing is, I have had IP Office on this server in the past and booted up fine.
I did a clean install when 11 came out, and since then, its been 30-35 minutes boot times.

Thought I would follow up. I found the issue with my slow boot times. I have having a tone of I/O error on one of the raided drives.
Guess HD failure coming next.

I fixed the issue by scanning the drive for bad blocks and saving the file to the / dir.
Then I rand fsck command to load that file and not attempt to write to any of those bad blocks.

Boots up much faster now.
