Hi All,

I have a customer on IPO R9.1 and was trialing Avaya Communicator 2.0.xx. They liked most of it (IM Presence, phonebook lookup), but it does not support call control from Plantronics Wireless headsets. (which they want a large number of)
After speaking to Plantronics re-seller on this, i was advised that the Avaya Communicator 2.1.33 and above supports this feature. We tested and 'bob's ur uncle' it's worked, however the other features like IM, Presence, phonebook etc will not work as Communicator 2.1.33 and above is not supported on the current IPO R9.1

Back to the question....Apart from the benefits of remote call control via the wireless headset, what 'amazing other features that i cant live without' can be pitched?
Maybe more of a sales ??, but would appreciate feedback around the upgrade, either for or against

Cheers

PRO. We have no problems with R10 beside some Manager hickups which can be avoided easily.
Found Manager R 10.0.2 problem :
Uploading a User.csv to merge email addresses reset all SIP settings on the users. resolution: add email addresses manually, annoying having 100+ users but soit.
There was another issue but I forgot, it did work in webmanager.
Webmanager works well on this release.

The main reason for us to upgrade to R10 is because we sell IPOSS with it.

Hi Mkoker,

not tried the web version, but do you know if supports the call control i'm looking for?

Cheers

looks that way. I know it works with Jabra. But right in there using the Plantronics Hub Software. From the device, the Hold, Mute and Hangup functions are supported. When present on the
device, the speakerphone option is also available and is controlled from the set. Latest 9.1 release and power user allows you to use it.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input, much appreciated

intigrant, Did you make your own template to import .csv files when loading programming? Any chance you're willing to share?

Looking for some ways to speed up installs... Our team hasn't had much luck with importing csv files.

SP2 has an annoying issue with WebLM licensing. You can't save a config if WebLM can't deliver sufficient licenses. And with SP2 Manager as well as WebManager try to pull "basic user" licenses Avaya wanted to introduce in R10 but didn't. So those licenses are not available... Only solution (or workaround) is to migrate from central WebLM licensing to "classical" licensing on primary server's IPO and local CTI, PRI and other licenses.

Does 10 offer the feature where the calling party shows that there on the phone? I heard that feature might be coming out.

Does it work by default or do you have to turn it on?

Never mind found it under user telephony settings.

It offers the 'feature' to see on a user button the connected party while the user talks. Customers don't like it that way... Had to disable DSS status globally but disabled the option to see the caller when someone wants to pick up a call with the user button while ringing.

Are we talking about the same thing? I'm referring to "Advertise Callee State To Internal Callers

Your master wishes to see you in the pit.

So no new features as I said, capacity increases, security tweaks and protocol support is not really a "feature" the customer can see and use... mainly marketing twoddle :)

I do like the less reboots as now you can change or add a sip trunk without a reboot.
I like PLDS (took a little time)
But it is about time for SQL on the SE (coming 10.1 if i am correct)
It is time for tenanting (again)
You cannot keep adding support for more users and groups without implementing tenanting!!!

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You have always been able to add SIP trunks without a reboot, it says Immediate but Merge works.
Editing the trunk didn't work with a merge, but I just used to copy it, delete it, paste it back in and then edit it, works fine with a merge then :)
