Hello,
Will older B/R PC cards work with R.7 ACS? A while back it was mentioned that they wer'nt compatible. Does anyone know for certain?

No, R6 and below are not compatable with the R7

Russ

I don't know if the modem will work, but the card does not have enough memory to store the program. It may even be simply reported as not compatible.
I've always just ordered the correct card.

Thank's fellas, appreciate the replies. Is it just an issue with the modem? Can it still be used for backup/restore?

Thank's again.

No you need a R7 to backup an R7, it has flash backup now where the R6 and below didn't. If you want to get a card for it you will have to get the R7 card.

Russ

You can store the backup on either the flash memory internally, or the R7 backup / restore card. I use the card in case the system goes down. I'll have the translation then, plus I do a fair amount of remote administration.

Some clarification please...
As I understand it, Avaya has not made a silver Backup & restore card strickly for the 7.0 processor.
I'm told that I can use a new silver card [ backup & remote ] for a 7.0 and or a new green card, for [backup] only in the 7.0
I'm told that as long as the cards are new, they will work..
Does anyone have any hands on real answer ?
Thanks

The remote backup/restore card for the R7 is light blue. We just tested a silver R3 remote backup/restore with an R7 and it performed a backup and restore without any problems. Will test the modem in the near future.

The RAC/Backup card that came with earler releases (R3-R6) was also an upgrade card. The first time you powered up with the card in place brought the processor to the latesr revision of the release. For instance, R6.0's became R6.0.14's.

The RAC for the R7's do not include any upgrade image.
