Quotation marks for test in csv files using Excel

I occasionally have to edit csv files in Excel. These files have quotes around all alphanumeric cells. When I edit in Excel and save the files, the quotes are gone, and the other program I use needs them to be there. I end up going through this tedious process of adding them back in.

Is there any way to make Excel put quotes around alphanumeric text when saving as a csv file?

Do you mean speech marks? I did 2 scenarios to try and recreate your problem.

1. use speech marks - the speech marks stayed after I saved as csv.

2. use quotes - i lost the quote at the beginning of the field but the end one stayed after saving as csv.

I'm not sure what you mean by speech marks. I'm talking about double quotes: "

MS Access, for example, allows you to save alphanumeric text wrapped in quotes when saving as a csv. I can't find a way to do it in Excel, and I'm wondering if there is one.

I mean "speech marks" or 'quotes'

What is the reason for the quotes, is it to stop loosing leading zero's or is just a vital part of the data.

It is because I need to import the data into another program, and that program can't read it unless all alphanumeric fields have speech marks around them, nothing more. So the data that should look something like:

"c040","dbx",0,1,2,3,4

look like:

c040,dbx,0,1,2,3,4

Even if I import it into excel with the speech marks, once I save it again, it saves without them.
