Hey guys, can anybody help with this?
Im getting an error message when I try to log in to the domain."Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account is not found".
I did one thing, take that computer off the domain and then re-join, works out but at the next login same problem. And I only have problems with this one particular computer, all the others are OK.

Usually you will get that error message if the computer name you've chosen is already in use. If you just rebuilt this PC, the old name might still be cached on the network.

I suggest you give it a new name, or access the Windows NT server and remove the old computer name manually before trying to rejoin it again.

I've run into this problem a few times. Never did figure out the cause only the solution.

Once you remove the machine from the domain, delete the computer name from Active directory (if it's there,) DHCP and DNS. Once you've removed it from those three things you can add it back to the domain and it shouldn't have any other problems. Well, until it does it again.

There are several posts throughout the boards here about this problem and no one really can seem to pinpoint a reason. I thought I had it narrowed down to a SID problem but when we had the issue on a laptop I created a new SID on it, a few weeks later it happened again. So no luck there.

Good luck!

Cheers
Rob

Indeed the problem was that I had two computers with the same name.I re-named the computer and the problem was gone.
Hopefully it doesnt come back.
