Has anyone else using ArcServe 2000 noticed issues were jobs fail due to tape getting hung in "updating" status? Also we have plenty of blank media after, but jobs still hang and then fail.

Also appears at times that this problem also formats the rest of the blank media....

YEs we are using an IBM 3581 6 tape library we also use a IBM 3583 which is a 34 tape changer. We have had the problem more with the 6 tape library.

What you have to do is go to the registry under local machine\software\computer associates\arcserve\base\tape engine and delete all entries except rm setup. Then reboot server. After server is up, go to Start menu...Programs... Arcserve.... Arcserve device configuration. When you get to the setup make sure that there are no tapes in the drives in the library and then click auto configuration. If this completes correctly, then you shouldn't have anymore problems with it hanging up. If it doesn't complete correctly then there is a problem with the library or connections.
