Hi everyone!

I'm having a little problem with Illustrator. When I save a file as a .ai, the file saves quickly. However, when I go to open that saved file I get an error message:

"The document contains PDF objects that have been re-interpretted: An unknown shading type was encountered."

It doesn't matter it something has been imported or I've created the file 100% using Illustrator. Why this is so frustrating is because the opened file becomes broken apart into all sorts of abstract shapes. Text also becomes broken apart, line by line.

I've tried re-installing the program but with no success. If I save the files as .eps' they work fine, however it is a bit frustrating that I cannot save .ai's.

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks for all your help!

Hi Bert!

Unfortunately, I'm am not! I thought of that too, but I am just using the default .ai settings the Illustrator CS has. :(

Anytime I have an Adobe app behaving badly, I trash the prefs. In most cases that has fixed the problem. Before you reinstall you have to manually trash prefs.
