I would like to create an announcement for, calls to old extensions, that announces that the extension is no longer in use, and transferred the call to an operator. I have no vectoring. :(
- I created an xported single line extension, x2200 and a mailbox, 2200, that is set up as an auto attendant that makes the announcement and times out to the attd. Calling x2200 works fine.
- I forward an extension (1964) to x2200, called x1964 and got a busy signal.
- I created a coverage path (8) with Point1: 2200. Made the old ext (1964) cover to 8.
This did not work either. Can’t cover twice, right?
What am I to do?

I'm not sure if it depends on which version you are on but You can set a coverage path and you are able to record an announcemnt and have that as a covering extension.

Do u have annoucements in the PBX? If u do, u can send "d.i.d. unknowns" to the announcement in the "change system features". But then the caller won't have the opportunity to go back to the attendant. But part of the annoucement could be for them to call back to the main number for the company though. If the calls are coming in on a trunk that can manipulate digits, u could go in and change your unused d.i.d. s to route to the 2200 and then it could cover to audix. Then the caller could go back out to the attdt.

On your coverage path make all calls go to the auto attendant. then put all unused extensions in the coverage path. Ensure that the extensions are not forwarded. This also means free extensions must be x ported with the coverage path. Might be too much work if you ask me.

Thanks

1a2 to ip I seen it all

Maybe Im not understanding, but if you have an announcement board you can record an announcement saying the caller has reached a non-working number. Then you can go to "change system parameters features" and change the line that says "DID/TIE/ISDN Intercept Treatment" and put in an announcement. This is on my first page, Im using version 10.

Thank you all,
I'm gonna try some of your ideas.
Yes, we have announcement boards and the switch is R7.
Problem is I don't know how to record announcements. I did a search and could find a thread on the subject.

1a22ip,
To your point, I'm not going to do this for every unused extension, no more than a dozen or so.

On recording announcements, look up your features by typing display features and look up the Announcement Access Code. Dial that code to record announcements. I believe 1 is to record. If you havent setup Announcement extensions, type "ch integ ann" and assign extensions to the announcement board.

you could try to give all old stations the normal audix coverage path, and on the audix auto-attendant routing-table redirect all those extensions to the auto-attendant mailbox (2220).

Always delete the annoucement before recording one. This is because not deleting it before hand can cause corruption to the point the board sometimes has to be replaced.
