Hi.

I have a camcorder which can shoot Wide in both modes:

1. "Streched" 16:9 in which all the CCD is used but the image is "streched". I later squeeze the image vertically to 75% and get the right ratio.

2. Letterbox 16:9, which means some of the CCD is not used and the 16:9 is acheived right away.

My question is: which way produces better image? using the whole CCD but later squeezing, or using only part of the CCD and keeping it like that?

Thanks

Don't stretch it! Stretching forces image interpolation (forces the software to guess what graphic information should be there). Shoot so that only part of the CCD is being used, that assures higher quality. You'll have to deal with the letterbox effect still, but you'll appreciate the quality. Good luck!
