"Silent Paging" / Instant Messaging on IPO

I have a customer with an interesting request: they call it "Silent Paging". They are a dental office and want to be able to announce calls waiting to doctors and assistants without the audio paging. It will amount to Instant Messaging through the IP Office system, either on the phone set display or on the PC with Phone Manager (?) I believe that PM supports a form of IM using Microsoft Live Communication Server but I have been told that you can only message one user at a time.
Has anyone had any experience with this type of solution? We have not sold the IPO yet so whatever hardware/software is necessary is what we will go with.

We use it here with IPO. I'm not the biggest fan of the UI, but it does work.
