:"Shortcut" to Cancel Print Document XP Pro ???

Is there any way to make a shortcut to immediately cancel
printing of a document without having to go to the printer
icon and scroll down and cancel the print job or document?

Is there anyway to "clear" everything to the printer.
When I turn it off and then back on, it just starts printing, even if I have cancelled the print jobs...in
other words, is there any easy way to just stop the printer
and clear everything in the middle of a print job?

Just turning off the printer won't cancel print jobs.

There should be a print notification icon in the notification area of the task bar while a print job is proceeding. You can use that to open the printer control window.

In that box go to Printer/cancel all documents to clear everything.

Is the printer connected to a server, or the PC directly? If a server, you may have to cancel the jobs there.

Go to printer properties and check how spooling is configured.

This really irritates me as well, when my kids have sent some rubbish document to the printer it churns out pages of carp and no matter how I try to stop it it continues to try.

I have on occassions found that by going to the user account (who sent the doc) and clearing out the printemp folder and temp folder it can sometimes stop it but I'm not sure if thats just luck!

I too would appreciate a solution to this.

My printer is an HP895cxi direct connection via RS232

I've turned the spooling off.
No server or network...just stand alone desktop computer.
I can go to the printer on the task bar and usually
"eventually" stop everything, but not always and by
the time I go to the task bar and click on the icon, then
scroll down to the cancel ... too slow and I'm too lazy.
I was hoping I could just make some type of shortcut on
my desktop to STOP AND CLEAR EVERYTHING WITH ONE MOUSE CLICK...probably no such luck

As I already mentioned, you don't need to scroll down any list. I suppose you could always keep the printer turned off until needed?

It applies to windows server - but the vb script and cscript commands are available in XP Pro. So it should be possible to build a shortcut using the right parameters.
