"Rule Above" question 1

When I use the "rule above" option it seems to put the rule above the margin on the page i.e it is higher than the actual margin. So the text is aligned but not the rule above the text.

Does anyone know how to make the "rules above" align with the margin rather than the text automatically?
 
It automatically lines up with the text, since the rule you're adding is directly related to the paragraph and not the page itself. You can move it with the offset setting, but if the text frame moves, so will the rule.

If you're using CS2, you could do an anchored object with the line being aligned with the margin, regardless of where the text frame moved. It won't, however, re-size with text if that's what you need.

thanks for the tip Erica, I suppose I could paste it in, but I use it with xml so it is an easy option to do the rule above. thanks though.
