One of my network admins plugged in a second network cable to our main database server 2nd Nic which promptly got a DHCP address and added the entry into DNS which caused a few problems. We have removed the cable, disabled the NIC, but keep getting the DNS entry re-appearing every day. We've removed the entry from our main DNS server and it's replicated the change from the other DNS servers, but still it keeps coming back.

Our DNS is AD integrated and hasn't given any other problems apart from this one.

Any ideas?

This exact thing is happening to me too and I'm going nuts trying to figure it out. Until reading this post I haven't been able to correlate what started this problem, but a month ago we did the same thing, moving network gear and plugged in the wrong NIC briefly. I've also gone as far as blocking that address in DHCP from being given out. I've tried turning on DNS debug logging on our Win2k AD/DNS server but I'm either doing something wrong or it's not working because it's not logging anything at all in \system32\dns\dns.log

any luck?

I rebooted the server last night and the dupe DNS entry hasn't shown back up!
