Hi there,

in this company we're using the font family Amplitude (FontBureau). Since recently it is not possible to choose the "regular" cut from the type menue. It switches immediately to "book".

This happened under:
InDesign CS2, Version 4.0.5
Windows XP pro
ATM

There are no problems choosing the "regular" cut in Photoshop, Illustrator or Word. This seems to be a InDesign bug.

Did anybody experience that, too?

Regular is often used to describe the standard form of a truetype font and book is often used to describe the standard form of the postscript or opentype version.

You might want to check that you're selecting/activating the same version of the font.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

That seems to be part of the problem. In the meanwhile i found out, that it seems to be impossible to change to regular fonts in once made paragraph formats from a master page.
When starting a new page you can chose regular fonts very well.
Maybe it is due to master page templates?

Hmpf
Thanks for your input.

Yes, you would have the UNAPPLY the paragraph style if the style specifies the font.

This seems to be a long story.
Unapplying paragraph formats does not have any effect, not either using the Find Font command.
After a long test row i can say, that the Indd-document keeps certain information of fonts in use and somehow prevents the use of the "regular" fonts in favor of the "book" fonts. As long as you use copies of that document, this will stay.
So i defined a new, fresh document. I copied all the text boxes and picture frames into that new doc, and, surprise! i can chose the "regular" font now.
The preventing definition have been left behind in the old doc.
There seems to another condition, that has to do with the configuration on another PC, but it is not yet clear, what it is. Our IT guy is working on that.

Thanks for your help, and maybe, i could help too.

Best regards
Henrik
