"Package" feature in Illustrator?

Sometimes I have to output print jobs in Illlustrator - It would be really handy if there was a feature that would automatically bundle all of the images and fonts used in the document into a single output folder - just as per the InDesign "Package" feature. Or if you are still using Quark (WHY?!) the feature is called "Collect for Output".

Any ideas?

Also, is there some sort of preflight feature in Illustrator - something that will check you files for things like RGB images, lo-res images, extra spot colours, missing fonts etc. This would also be really helpful.

You would think that Adobe would incorporate all of these features into Illy, since they are already in InDesign.

Thanks!

Thanks. I thought that would be the case.

I thought it would be worth asking anyway.

Adobe hasn't incorporated that feature into AI since it doesn't regard it as a layout program but as a drawing program for the creation of graphics to go INTO a layout program - which is of course, InDesign.

Yeah, I know.

But it'd be neat if they did have that feature. Wny can't they just integrate advanced vector drawing into a layout program - hence bypassing the need to import vector graphics.

Why?!!

Oh god - I cannot imagine the strain on system resources if ID and AI were combined. But I have read a discussion that foresees the integration of all 3 major apps in one super humungous program within the next few years. It certainly is moving closer with each release.
