I have been working with the IP Office just fine for about a year, great system! I now have a problem.

We did when we thought was a regular upgrade using the Upgrade button but we did not know that we needed a license first. After the unit rebooted all the handsets now say "No License Available".

I have read other posts on here from others that have done the same thing or have had an upgrade failures and need to Downgrade the unit back to a former state. We do have the .BAK files and we applied this and got last weeks configuration just fine but sets sill say the same error. I noticed that the Manager shows IP Office 8.1 and the control unit version also says 8.1 (67). I wanted to double check on exactly what I should do to restore the unit to it's previous configuration.

I do have a DTE cable and PUTTY and was able to see the loader info on my screen but I have not made any changes yet.

Thank you!

The upgrade proceedure is not as easy as the BCM50
it is MUCH simpler

if it is a 500V2 put the sd card in an sd card reader & go File advanced recreate sd card.
(tkes about 40 min)
for IP500 units use the file advanced upgrade procedure you have already been using

licences can be added either before or after the upgrade(before is preferable)

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

I was told that this unit did not have the Essential Edition and that I first needed that before we could install the 9.0 upgrade license. Is this correct? This was a big surprise and it is now going to cost double. This is a small installation is this really necessary everything that we need is currently already part of the IPO it has a lot more than the BCM50. Are there any options to upgrading to 9.0. I do know I would like the new Park feature that works like the BCM50.

The essential Edition license is virtual on your release. You will need a Essential license and a upgrade license. This is for both 500v1 and 500v2. The way I understand it, it does not see the virtual license upgrading it requires both. With out it you get what you get the error "no license"

On some occasions the virtual essential edition license is not created and i think this is the case.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

This system has always been working with 7.0 and digital 2420 sets and analog lines. The error is gone that was only due to the fact that we went ahead of ourselves and selected the UPGRADE before we got the license that was our mistake we thought it was ready for upgrading. Earlier in this thread I was give instructions how to revert back to 7.0 and that worked just fine. Everything is back to normal. We just wanted to be with the latest version mainly for the new Park feature that works like the BCM did. Other than that there really is no reason to spend all that money.
