I have been working with the IP Office just fine for about a year, great system! I now have a problem.

We did when we thought was a regular upgrade using the Upgrade button but we did not know that we needed a license first. After the unit rebooted all the handsets now say "No License Available".

I have read other posts on here from others that have done the same thing or have had an upgrade failures and need to Downgrade the unit back to a former state. We do have the .BAK files and we applied this and got last weeks configuration just fine but sets sill say the same error. I noticed that the Manager shows IP Office 8.1 and the control unit version also says 8.1 (67). I wanted to double check on exactly what I should do to restore the unit to it's previous configuration.

I do have a DTE cable and PUTTY and was able to see the loader info on my screen but I have not made any changes yet.

Thank you!

You need to downgrade back to 7.0
Just download the right version and perform an upgrade (it is the same as an upgrade)

But do you have an upgrade licence and an essential edition licence?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Downgrade it using the same method as upgrade except you point the directory to the old manger 7 files

I am a little confused by both of the replies. How do I find if I have and upgrade and essentials license?

Is there a step by step that could show me what to do?

Thank you

BY the way this system is being reinstall in a new location so if I have to erase anything that is ok. Even if it is default all the way.

Re-install Manager 7.0 on your computer, then "upgrade" the control unit, which will show its current release at 8.1 and the available "upgrade" at 7.0. The .BAK files are just backups of the programming configuration of the control unit, not the actual operating software.

I loaded Manager 7.0 and tried to UPGRADE but it is telling me that One or More Upgrades Failed". I am going to try again.

I tried it again it went thru the upgrade ok and sad that all files were upgraded but when I rebooted it it still says 8.1 and will not let me log into it using the Manager 7.0 access.

When "upgrading" with the upgrade wizard you ca nsee which version is loaded and which version is available.
If you have version 7 manager installed then the working directory for binary files must be "c:/program files/avaya/ip office/manaager"
You also can download the 7.0 binary files [link ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9/SoftwarePub/7_0GA_Builds/ADMIN/BINS7_0_36.exe]here[/url] and extract them to a subfolder in the manager folder named "BINS7" or whatever.
Set the working directory to the BINS7 folder and run the upgrade wizard again.

Thanks. I DL your link to BINS7 as you instructed, but when I open up Manager that show 7.0 it says that the IPO is not support because it is 8.1. Do I open up Manager 8.1 and change the working DIR there and then switch back to Manager for 7.0 and start the UPGRADE from there?

Hey hanks it worked like a charm. I now have 7.0 and the sets do not have an error anymore. We are going to upgrade to 9.0 next week we have the upgrade license ordered. What is the procedure for upgrading when we get the license is it as easy as the BCM50 we had?

Thanks!

Oh by the way for the upgrade they asked for our SN which I found but they are also asking for our Feature Key. Can you tell me where that is located I cant find that number? Thank you!

What type of IPO do you have?
The feature key is the same as the dongle.
The number is found on the system tab.
But these question should not be asked as this is basic stuff really.
did you ever do an upgrade before?

We have an IPO 500 v2 7.0 Essentials Edition with embedded voice mail. We only have 8 2420's and a PRI. This is the first IPO upgrade we have done BMC50 upgrades in the past. Where would I locate the "TAB" to find this information out please? Thank you

I think I just found it under SYSTEM. It says DONGLE SERIAL NUMBER: Local and an ( 11 ) digit number. Would that be it?
