I recently added a 408 MLX-ID card to my system, but whenever a call comes in, and no matter what the line, I get a message saying "No Caller ID". I don't have software release 7, so I know my system won't support displaying the Caller ID Name, but when I hit "Next" on the display, the only other item listed is the port number.

Here are my specs:
Legend 6.1 V11.1 Software
408 GS/LS-ID-MLX (system inventory says Board 408 GLM-U)

The only limitation I can think of might be the age of my processor. The sticker on top of it gives product number 517D33, and the system inventory says Hardware Vintage 00.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marc

Also, as long as I'm posting this for everyone to see, I'm also wondering if any of the GS/LS cards support detection of a message waiting status provided on the line. I'd love to be able to detect this and pass it to the message light on an extension, but my assumption is that this isn't possible. If anyone happens to know anything to the contrary, I'd appreciate that input as well!

Thanks.

Are the lines connected to this module configured with CID from the Telco?

For CID to work it takes two to tango, the right equipment and the service provider features. The first one you have, what about the second one?

Also there is a ring delay option to set in the Legend. You can download the Feature Reference from support.avaya.com amoung other manuals. The specifics are covered in those documents.

Happy reading!

The Merlin Legend/Magix never supported MWI from the CO switch.

In reply to SYQUEST:

Yes, caller ID information is present on the two lines I'm tesitng this with, and when I hook up a plain telephone with a caller ID display, the information displays correctly.

I've downloaded the support manuals, but can't find any settings related to Caller ID, except for the ring delay option, which I don't think is related.

Any further ideas?

Thanks,
Marc

did you add or change out the board if a change ,did you do a board renumber

Yes, in fact, I have reloaded the system software from my forced installation card, and have renumbered the boards. Still the same problem.

Any further suggestions?!

Thanks,
Marc

After checking the Pocket Reference V7.0 I found that the 408GS/LS-ID-MLX module CID capability is NOT supported on software versions prior to V7.0. So the only line/trunk module thats supports CID on version 6.1 is the 800GS/LS-ID. Other than that, the only way to have CID with version 6.1 is using the PRI ISDN option on DS1 with the appropriate hardware.

Aha... that does explain it! Thank you so much. I knew that the caller ID function was supported on version 3 and higher, however I wasn't aware that it didn't apply to the 308 module.

Many thanks.

If you upgrade the processor software to Legend R7 or Magix R4 - you will get your caller ID info. But - given that the processor is a CKE3 - it will not work correctly with modules that have more than 12 ports - except for the 016 T/R module. You probably don't have any of those anyway.

I would also check that the firmware on the 408-GLU card is application vintage is 32.

Then - all you really need is a processor upgrade card for Legend R7, V14.2 or Magix R4, V7.

As I have stated in other threads...Legend processors are
real cheap...Watch Ebay for CKE4's or 5's...then make sure
its been upgraded to the latest release...convert and upload
the backup to the new processor and...now your set.
