i'm running Win98 SE, OE6. Last week i mistakenly downloaded Spykiller (never again) which killed K9 and left me with an OE problem.
Message>Properties>Details>Message Source doesn't work: No error message -- no pauses -- just nothing. (Had to come here since a genius fixed my concurrent ActiveX pickle.) :)

First thing you want to do is make sure that function is truly broken. Go to safe mode, can you do it there? If it works, then some background process is interfering. If not, then yes, it is broken.

I believe the Internet Explorer repair tools checks out Outlook Express, but I am not 100% on that. Its in the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, select Internet Explorer, then Add/Remove. You'll get the prompt to repair.

i'll try Safe Mode. i already tried the IE repair tool. It didn't help. :-(
It's annoying the heck out of me that i can't get K9 to run. (Spykiller killed it.)

i ran it in safe mode and did get the same error. Is it possible to fix this problem without having to reinstall OE? i have all 98 files copied to my harddrive (don't have the CD anymore) and really don't want to reinstall if i can manage without doing it.
Incidentally, i ran Find: programs containing text "Spykiller" and came up with four .dbx files. :-(

I would try using Outlook instead of Outlook express and see if it works.

Delete the spykiller dbx files. If that doesn't fix it, close oe, move the rest of your dbx files somewhere else (i.e. inbox.dbx). Restart oe, it will create new ones. See if the problem is gone. If so, then reimport your old dbx files (File>Import>Messages).

Thanks Matt! i'll see how that does and post again (a thank you or another distress call!).
i never could figure out Outlook instead of Outlook Express. (i don't have Microsoft Outlook, alone.)
