Hi -
I have what can only be described as a "large grey bar" at the bottom of all my windows! It kinda looks a little like the dock bar at the bottom of regular W9x desktops but is basically plain, takes up half the window area, and has only a single close gadget in the top left of the bar. Clicking this does indead close the annoying bar but it comes back next time the window is opened.

I have no idea how this was turned on or what it is but I would be grateful if someone could give me a pointer as to how to get rid of it! Its really slowing down my windows. What purpose does it serve?

I have a screen grab I can email to anyoen who needs further explanation. Sorry if this isnt too clear.

Thanks in advance
Shaun

ahhh...!!! on close inspection of the pic!!!
I thought you were talking about Internet explorer, but I see you mean windows explorer yea! OK, you are using WinNT? what I think is that if go to your folder options and turn off view as a web page it will go away, try this and see what happens, at lease then we can eliminate some possibilities......... OK guys I got this sorted... windows pretty much died the day after I posted this question - opening any window gave an error message!

I basically just reinstalled 98 over itself and all problems disappeared. For once I'm thankful to Microsoft for the 98 installer... saved my life! :)

Cheers for all the advice.
