I have a couple of new starts working part-time from home for us (bookkeeping) and they each need an extension. I have a 403DS in the office, a VCM5 installed and have set up VPN connections to the office using a Draytek 2820 router. what is the best phone to buy for the remote locations and does anyone have any recommendations for good broadband suppliers for voice?

am i effectively trying to set up a hosted PBX here?

You will want to buy either a 5610 or 5621 phone for each site.

No, you are not setting up a hosted PBX. You are simply setting up some remote phones.

If you want a recommendatin for broadband providers you need to tell us where you are located. But no provider has a "voice" broadband connection unless you buy in to their hosted voice solution (which has many different names).

fyi, draytek routers don't support remote vpn phones. you would have to set up a vpn tunnel to each site, you can set up 32 I believe on these draytek versions.

TheTaker, a 403 does not even support vpn phones :)
I think he means using vpn routers from home to the company

tlpeter is right, using the draytek as a LAN to LAN VPN. the users have draytek 2600 in their homes for the connection. We only have 2 remote users at the moment but i can see this increasing.

How do you go about setting up a hosted PBX? i think our needs are growing now regarding remote users and it would be an ideal solution if it was fairly easy to do and not too expensive.

I would go for an ip500 and use vpn phones
You then only need a supported vpn router at the company and 5610 or 20/21 and a license per phone

Then you are more feature proof
If you have an ip500 you can use sip trunks and much more features you now can not use !

You will have a quik ROI wich you will not have with hosted solutions !
