I was using Call Pilot years ago and we had something called express messaging. Basically this would allow me to leave a voice mail message for a user without ringing the phone. As simple as calling the Express messaging extension, entering the user mailbox and record my message. Great little feature when in a rush ! My question is does Avaya Aura Messaging have a similar feature I can setup ?

When you call the voicemail pilot# directly, you can enter the extension and leave a message for the mailbox if you are not recognized as a subscriber. If you are recognized as a subscriber, you're prompted just for your password.

Maybe VDN override can help you here. Have a VDN point to a vector and the vector step being "route-to 1234" - if 1234 were your voicemail pilot.

I think with VDN override that when the call is placed to voicemail that the calling line ID of the VDN (not the phone the call originated from) would be presented to voicemail and you'd get that kind of prompting like I mentioned above.

In CM6, you can have station types that are "virtual" and do not consume licenses and are used just for the purposes of pointing to their forwarding destination, so that would be even one less step than having to dial messaging first.

Pre-CM6, you can build a single vector, and supposing your voicemail hunt were 99, have a step "messaging split 99 for extension active". You can then build a number of VDNs with the dialable extensions you want, map them all to that vector, and that 1 line of vector will send all calls to all those VDNs to voicemail for the specific mailbox of the VDN dialed.

So, you've got options :)
