Why do I get the pop up

"Do you want to open or save this file?"

when I click on a link that is an .htm file (when opening them using IE7 in XP). It opens .html files fine.

Under Folder Options -> File Types -> HTM -> Advanced ->
Confirm open after download is already unchecked.

I just want IE7 to open htm files the same way it does with .html files i.e. directly in the browser.

Any ideas....

Thanks

Try this. Open a command prompt and type:
assoc .htm=htmlfile

Smah

thanks for the reply.

Tried your suggestion, but still getting the open/save pop-up unfortunately (even after restarting PC).

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

OK, next (again at the command prompt) including the quotes excactly as shown:
ftype htmlfile="%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

smah

Thanks for the suggestions.

But after looking more closely at the URL it appears that the .htm file is launched from an inhouse developed online application.

I have created a "Hello world" .htm file and this opens fine in IE7, so this leads me to suspect that the online application is the culprit.

Many thanks anyway
