When im playin games sometimes my computer goes black and when it recovers, my game starts lagging out or shuts down. Then the message appears.

Check for chipset driver updates, BIOS updates form system board manufacturer. need a little more info to be more help...What are the system specs, who made it,and what OS are you running.

I agree on both counts, one to update any drivers and two to give move info on the system...

from what I gather sofar, is that the system or GFX card is overheating, stops the system, which in turn times out the HDD driver...

My friend said what i need most likely is a new video card and some ram . What would u suggest?

Ok so i got the new video card annd its faster but the screen possition is messed up. Theres a little black space on the left and bottom of my screen idk how to fix it. Any suggestions ?

I would still recommend more RAM. From my experience, just trying to run Vista with less than 1GB is a tax on the system.
